Tonu murder: HC vacation bench sends writ to regular bench
The High Court (HC) today asked to place a writ seeking judicial inquiry into the murder of Comilla Victoria College student Sohagi Jahan Tonu, before a regular bench.
The HC vacation bench comprising of Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice Md Selim passed the order as Supreme Court lawyer Eunus Ali Akand placed the writ before the court.
"The court asked to place the writ before a regular bench. The regular benches will commence their activities on May 2 after the end of the ongoing vacation. I will place the writ before a regular bench on that day," said the petitioner.
Akand filed the writ petition on April 3, pleading to arrest the culprits behind the heinous crime and launching a judicial inquiry into the murder. The plea also sought direction for giving the bereaved family Tk30 lakh as compensation.
