Robber killed in Brahmanbaria ‘gunfight’
An alleged robber was killed in a “gunfight” with police in Brahmanbaria Sadar upazila early today.
The deceased, whose identity could not be known immediately, was preparing for a robbery along with his gang in Shalinpur village where police were patrolling nearby, Officer-in-Charge of Brahmanbaria Police Station Md Moinur Rahman said.
Suspecting the presence of police, robbers opened fire. In retaliation, police also fired triggering the “gunfight”, the police official added.
Four policemen were also injured during the “gun battle”.
The robber, aged about 35, was left dead on the spot while his cohorts fled the scene, Moinur said.
The body was taken to the Brahmanbaria Sadar hospital.
Police have filed a case in this regard.
