Satkhira transport leader killed in factional clash

A transport leader was killed and two other were injured in a factional clash at Kaliganj bus terminal in Satkhira this evening.

The deceased, Raju Ahmed Babu, 35, was general secretary of a faction of Kaliganj Bus-mini-bus Transport Workers’ Association, reports our local correspondent quoting Mir Monir Hossain, assistant superintendent of police (ASP) in Satkhira.

The clash erupted around 7:30pm when Kamrul and Taher, leaders of another faction took control over the Kaliganj bus stand, the police official said.

Babu died on the spot while Mostafizur Rahman and Abdur Rahman, president and joint general secretary respectively of the same faction were injured in the clash, the police official also said.

The injured were sent to Satkhira Sadar Hospital.

On information, police rushed to the spot and took the situation under control.
