Abahani, Prime Bank, Prime Doleshwar win
Tamim Iqbal-led Abahani, Sabbir Rahman’s Prime Bank Cricket Club and Nasir Hossain’s Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club churned out victories in the third round of the Dhaka Premier League today.
The first match to get over was at Fatullah, where Prime Doleshwar thumped Mahmudullah Riyad-led Sheikh Jamal by eight wickets. Batting first, Sheikh Jamal were bundled out for just 99 in 27.1 overs. Farhad Reza was the key wicket-taker with figures of 4 for 20. In reply, Prime Doleshwar rode on Rakibul Hasan’s unbeaten 53 to reach home in just 20.1 overs and eight wickets in hand.
At the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Prime Bank Cricket Club downed Mashrafe Bin Mortaza-led Kalabagan Krira Chakra. Batting first, Prime Bank, riding on half-centuries from Shuvagata Hom, Sabbir Rahman and Taibur Rahman, posted 280. Hamilton Masakadza was the only player to hit form during the chase and Kalabagan were bundled out for just 233.
The game at BKSP witnessed a close encounter. Abahani beat Imrul Kayes’s Brothers Union by two wickets. Batting first, Brothers, buoyed by Imrul’s 69, posted a healthy 244. Abahani leg-spinner Jubair Hossain was the key wicket-taker as he finished with figures of 4 for 44. He was well supported by Taskin Ahmed’s 2 for 45. In reply, Abahani just got home with one ball and two wickets in hand. Indian recruit Uday Kaul, with a score of 59, was the highest run-getter. He was well supported by talented Mosaddek Hossain, who posted 47.
