Gold bars found in man’s rectum
Six bars of gold were recovered in a man's rectum at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka last night.
Thirty two-year-old Nur Alam Khan, after some coaxing by custom officials, came up with the gold bars weighing 600g which he was carrying in his rectum, custom officials said.
He came out of the toilet with the "smuggled gold" in three separate plastic bags, the officials said.
Nur arrived at the airport from Malaysia by OD162 flight at 12:30am, Moinul Khan, director general (DG) of Customs Intelligence, told The Daily Star this morning.Customs officials also seized a gold chain weighing 100 grammes from him, he said.
In a primary interrogation, Khan said he smuggled the gold in exchange of Tk 30,000. The market price of the total seized gold is around Tk 30 lakhs, the official added.
