Sabbir lifts Prime Bank

Prime Bank Cricket Club piled up 318 for 9 at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur today after they were asked to bat first by Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club skipper Mahmudullah. Sabbir Rahman’s 100 from 97 balls (8 fours, 1 sixes) gave Prime Bank the boost after a solid start by the openers.

Nurul Hasan made 63 from 67 and kept the Sheikh Jamal bowlers at bay at the back end of their innings. For Sheikh Jamal, Mahmudullah was the star with the ball as he took five wickets for 66 runs in 10 overs.

At Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah, Abahani led by Tamim Iqbal were made to sweat for their runs after Victoria Sporting Club captain Nadif Chowdhury won the toss and decided to field first.

Tamim Iqbal top-scored with 63 from 88 while Avishek Mitra and Abul Hasan contributed to Abahani’s cause with forty-plus scores.

PC de Silva, the foreign recruit of Victoria Sporting Club ran through Abahani’s batting line-up with six wickets for 35 runs in 10 overs.

Kamrul Islam Rabbi took three wickets and helped his side restrict Abahani to 221.

In today’s match at BKSP No. 3 ground, Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club booked Brothers Union for 229 after their captain Farhad Reza won the toss and invited the opposing team led by Tushar Imran to bat first. Fifties from Imrul Kayes and Tushar allowed Brothers to post a below-par total as Prime Doleshwar took wickets at regular intervals. Al-Amin, Nasir Hossain and Robiul Rabbi took two wickets each.
