Motorbikes for rent for Dhaka dwellers
For commuters interested to have a faster traveling experience in Dhaka city, there is a good news: motorbikes will be available for rent and a mobile phone application will help people find a bike to their destinations.
A private firm, Datavoxel Ltd, is going to introduce the mobile app it on Monday. It will launch the bike service on June 1.
The idea is to share a motorcycle (SAM) and both biker and rider will have to register with the company with authentic information.
Datavoxel plants to register one thousand bikers and six thousand riders before launching the service.
The information of the bikers and the riders will ensure security for the both, Imtiaz Kasem, managing director of the company, said at a press conference at a community centre in Dhaka’s Gulshan.
According to the plan, a registered rider can search for registered bikers who are on his/her way through the mobile application and the application would locate both of them.
“This is an e-commerce service and we are acting as a matchmaker between a biker and a rider,” Kasem.
He hoped that the service will help reduce traffic congestion in Dhaka.
There are more than 4 lakh private motorbikes in Dhaka city, Datavoxel Ltd said, adding that it had found a way to arrange a transport option for same number of commuters of the Dhaka city.
For riding per kilometer, a rider will have to pay Tk 6 through online platform. The bikers will get their portion of the money from the company every week.
SAM architecture has been designed in USA by Datavoxel Inc, US and was made by some brilliant engineers from India and Bangladesh, all based in the US.
Initially, Datavoxel plants to run the service in the capital and after few months, it will assess whether they can go for other cities.
“We have already registered around eight hundred bikers,” said Kasem.
