Mobile call drop compensation from June

Mobile phone operators will give free minutes to its users as compensation for every case of call drop and network failure from June 1.

The decision came at a meeting between Tarana Halim, state minister for Telecom, and chief executive officers of the mobile phone operators.

The meeting was held at the minister's office today.

As per the decision, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) will form a committee in June in this regard.

The meeting decided that the users will not get compensation if the call drops in the first minute. The users will receive the compensation for the call drops after the first one minute.

Tarana directed mobile phone operators in last October to improve their service quality otherwise to compensate their customers.

Earlier, Tarana also conducted several meetings with the operators on reducing call drops and improving service quality.
