ATM card scam: Chinese citizen detained on suspicion

Law enforcers detained a Chinese citizen from an ATM booth on Elephant Road in Dhaka today suspecting his involvement in a card scam.

A Chinese named Huzou Jian Hui, 38, was detained from the ATM booth of Prime Bank around 11:45am, Mahbubur Rahman, officer-in-charge (investigation) of New Market Police Station, told The Daily Star.

The law enforcers seized several ATM cards from his possession, the OC said.

Informed by Dulal, a security guard of the Prime Bank's ATM booth, a joint team Rapid Action Battalion and police rushed to the scene and detained the man, said Maj Ataur Rahman, a company commander of Rab-2.

Jian Hui managed to withdraw Tk 66,000 before he was picked up, the Rab official said.
