Set in a snowy, mountainous terrain, Alto's Adventure is about a snowboarder on an adventure through woodlands and the wilderness. This snowboarding character must make his way through an icy terrain while collecting coins, rounding up llamas and earning points by accomplishing small tricks such as back-flip landings and jumping over threatening rocks and chasms. The controls are pretty basic too - tap to jump. Some upgrades are up for grabs but must be earned by gaining points and not through in-app purchases. Each level brings a new set of goals and accomplishing certain tasks in a chain gets you extra points. Later in the game you can unlock six different snowboarders with unique abilities. 

Alto's Adventure sounds rather simple and is essentially that but what really makes it stand out is the beautiful, spot on visuals and graphics which are nothing short of art. Add to that a soothing, lovely soundtrack (headphones highly recommended) and Alto's Adventure is more than a basic snow surfing game – it's a relaxing and pleasing gaming experience. The artistic scenery in the background, fluttering birds and changing weather with sudden rainfall seem to work wonders for this game. The changing of day to dusk with a realistic sunset draws you in. This game is definitely a must try if you're fussy about visuals and effects but be warned, if you like your games extra challenging or action-packed then Alto's Adventure will probably come off as a bit too simple.
