Rakib killing: Accused Beauty remanded
A Khulna court today granted police three days to interrogate in custody Beauty Begum, an accused in the killing of 13-year-old Rakib.
Police produced the accused before court this morning and sought 10 days remand, reports a local correspondent. The accused moved a bail plea.
Metropolitan Magistrate Faruq Iqbal allowed three days of remand and rejected the bail plea after hearing.
Rakib, a child labour at a local garage workshop, was tortured that eventually led to his death – air pumped into his body through his rectum just because he switched his workplace.
Enraged locals caught hold of Rakib’s former employer Omar Sharif, the garage owner’s mother Beauty Begum and one Mintu Khan after the incident and handed them over to police on Monday.
Rakib’s family filed a case in this regard. Police showed the three arrested in this case.
The two other accused are recieving treatment at the prison cell of Khulna Medical College Hospital.
