The fight we have been fighting, us women, has been a long and tedious one. We can only now imagine what it must have been like before we were born- backwards, archaic, oppressive. But sometime around early 1947, a revolution began-- women were stepping out of their houses, they were writing, they were reading, they were getting ideas; they were beginning to empower themselves. Paving the path to empowerment, Begum Sufia Kamal and then Nurjahan Begum gave us the evergreen Begum magazine- which, to this day, inspires women to go the extra mile to fight the good fight.
