Mehzabien enthralls the Super Chef kitchen
Yesterday, Rupchanda-The Daily Star Super Chef saw the presence of TV Celebrity Mehzabien as a special guest star on the show. The flamboyant and versatile star brought forth a dose of vitality to the programme. However, it wasn't the only surprise. At the very beginning, the judges informed the participants that this would be a good challenge. Fatema and Runa Laila were picked as the team captains and each were given chances to form teams of three. The losing team were told that would cook off again and among them, someone would be eliminated.
Mehzabien explained that she was even more excited about the kind of challenge the teams would face. It was going to be a pitha contest and the team with the best three pitha dishes would be declared the winners. Runa Laila was just fresh off a victory and the last episode and it did bode well for her that she was a dessert specialist. Runa chose Hasina and Sabrina as her teammates whilst Rafiya and Moushomi went to Fatema's team. The challenge then began.
Fatema's team impressed the judges with their meat pitha, made using chicken, along with a specially prepared sauce. The plating though was not to Chef Shaheda Yesmin's liking and it earned them a negative score. Mehzabien also pointed out that while their innovation was commendable, she could not accept the meat pitha as pitha.
Runa Laila's team came next and their pithas stole the show. She used a sweet gravy pitha, one cooked with oil and another prepared with milk, showing a great range in her simple display. Their team then came out as winners.
Rafiya once again found herself in the 'tike-thakar lorai' with Moushomi and Fatema. The challenge set before them was a fish kofta which must also maintain a spongy texture. The idea did not seem new to the participants and they went about their work with immense focus.
In the end though, not everyone could be declared a winner. Rafiya won the round, earning yet another badge but Moushomi wasn't so lucky. Her Super Chef journey came to an end, leaving only five behind for the final flourish. Who will stay and who will be the next to leave?
