BTRC launches call center for complaints

BTRC

Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) today launched a call center where telecom subscribers will be able to register any telecom related complaint.

"Users can file complaints by calling the short code, 2872," BTRC Chairman Dr Shahjahan Mahmood announced at a press conference at his office at 3:00pm.

The caller will be charged 25 paisa per minute and the service will be available eight hours daily from 9am to 5pm, he added.

"Within seven days, the regulator will take step to solve the problem," he added.

He also said the initiative was taken to ensure better services to the subscribers.

BTRC launched a trial run of the call center on 17 May and so far it received 164 calls and most of them are not complaints at all, said Brig. Gen. Iqbal Ahmed, director general of BTRC.

At present, there are 13.2 crore active SIMs in the market and more than 6.2 crore active internet connections as of April, according to BTRC.
