Shilpakala Academy observes Tagore's death anniversary

Marking the 74 th death anniversary of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) arranged a programme, featuring discussion, recitation, rendition of songs and dance recital, on August 6 at its Music and Dance Centre auditorium. 

Noted Educationist Dr. Akhtar Kamal discussed on the life and works of Tagore while Sohrab Uddin, Director of Music, Dance and Recitation Department of BSA delivered welcome address. Liaquat Ali Lucky, BSA Director General, presided over the event. 

A cultural programme followed where Tagore singers Mahadev Ghosh, Salma Akbar, Tania Mannan, ATM Jahangir, Soma Rani Roy, Nilotpal Sadhya, Shimu Dey and Azizur Rahman Tuhin performed solo Tagore songs. 

Renowned elocutionist Shimul Mustapha recited Tagore poems at the event. A group dance performance, choreographed by eminent artiste Sharmila Banerjee, captivated the audience. The cultural part came to an end with a presentational of a musical titled “Shorowritu”. Farhana Chowdhury Baby directed the piece.   

Elocutionists Bhashwar Bandyopadhyay and Krishti Hefaz hosted the programme.
