Injured newly-elected UP chairman of Joypurhat dies
A newly-elected chairman in Joypurhat Sadar upazila, who was stabbed and shot by unknown criminals six days ago, succumbed to his injuries early today.
AK Azad, 43, died at a hospital in Dhaka where he was undergoing treatment for the last six days, reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo.
He was elected chairman of Bhadsha union parishad in the upazila, the daily said.
He along with his aide Nayan Kumar Barman was attacked by the unidentified criminals on June 5. They were rushed to Joypurhat Modern Hospital from where Azad was shifted to the hospital in the capital as his condition deteriorated.
