2 shops fined for selling substandard cables

A mobile court yesterday fined two shops Tk 5.5 lakh for producing and selling substandard cables at Nawabpur road market in the capital.

Real domestic Industries was find Tk 3 lakh while LG electric industries Tk 2.5lakh, said executive magistrate Towheed Elahi, who led the drive.

They were producing substandard cables using the logos of renowned companies illegally.

Low quality's cables often cause short-circuits and fire, he said.

The court assisted by Armed Police Battalion and BSTI officials, seized cables worth Tk 3 lakh.
