‘Haha’ most preferred as ‘Facebook laughs’

Facebook's Data Researchers have shown that when it comes to the preferred form of online laughter 'Haha' leads by far, followed by Emojis, Hehe and finally LoL.

According to a post by Facebook's Research blog, the data shows that "haha-ers" lead with 51.4%, then "there are the emoji lovers (33.7%), the hehe-ers (12.7%), and finally, the lol-ers (1.9%)".

Facebook's blog also looked at gender divisions when it came to online laughter and said that men prefer hahas and to some extent "hehes."Women it would appear favour emojis and lols.

Facebook's researchers wrote on their blog, "We analyzed de-identified posts and comments posted on Facebook in the last week of May with at least one string of characters matching laughter.

We did the matching with regular expressions which automatically identified laughter in the text, including variants of haha, hehe, emoji, and lol2.

As denizens of the Internet will know, laughter is quite common: 15% of people included laughter in a post or comment that week."

Of course Facebook's data is restricted for a month and limited since it looks at US cities only.

But given that Facebook is a site that has nearly 1 billion users, at someone point we've all used Haha or Hehe or even Lols or emojis when interacting on it, so this sounds fairly familiar.

Now whether you're a haha person or hehe one, depends on you.
