Prime DSC beat Victoria by 91 runs

Victoria Sporting Club v Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club

Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club led by Farhad Reza overwhelmed Victoria Sporting Club by 91 runs in the Super League match of DPL 2016 at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium, Fatullah today.

Chasing the mammoth target of 334 runs, Victoria were in the game at 2-149 inside 30 overs. However Prime DSC bowlers fought back with crucial wickets and managed to defend their total quite easily in the end. 50s from openers Abdul Mazid and Jubair Ahmed gave Victoria a good platform to up the ante, but after Mominul Haque departed for 61 from 57, their resistance petered away.

Sunzamul Islam of Prime DSC was the best bowler for his side today. He took 3-44 in 7.2 overs. Al-Amin and Rahatul captured two wickets each.

Earlier, Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club rode on Raqibul Hasan’s century and Nasir Hossain’s quick-fire cameo to post 333 for 5 in 50 overs against Victoria Sporting Club.

Prime DSC captain Farhad Reza won the toss and wanted to put up a good total on the board. His batsmen didn’t disappoint, as Raqibul smashed 100 from 96 balls, Sachin Baby made 64 while Nasir gave the icing on the cake with his unbeaten 74 in only 42 balls. The 3rd wicket stand of 124 in 22.3 overs, followed by 59 in seven overs took the game away from Victoria. Nasir and Ziaur used the long handle to smash 51 in 4.5 overs late in the innings.

For Victoria, only three bowlers managed to get their names on the wickets-column today. Kamrul Islam Rabbi took two, Enamul Haque one while Marzan Bhuiyan gave away 51 runs in nine overs for the scalps of Rony Talukdar and Farhad Reza.

Mohammedan Sporting Club v Prime Bank Cricket Club

Mohammedan Sporting Club led by Naeem Islam tasted their first victory in the Super League when they won their match against Prime Bank Cricket Club by 1 wicket at Mirpur today.

The target of 245 in 50 overs seemed pretty tall for Mohammedan when they were struggling at 4-76 inside 18 overs. However Ariful Haque came to his team’s rescue and took MSC home with an unbeaten 103 from 99 balls. His match-winning knock contained six fours and two hits over the boundary rope.

Four Prime bowlers were among the wickets. Rubel and Taibur took two while Azim and Raihan grabbed one each.

Earlier, Prime Bank Cricket Club were restricted to 244 in 48.4 overs by a disciplined bowling performance from Mohammedan Sporting Club.

Prime Bank’s middle order made the bulk of their runs, with Sabbir Rahman contributing with 77 from 66. His knock contained seven fours and three hits over the fence. Unmukt Chand made 40 but rest of the Prime Bank batters failed to capitalize on their starts.

All the bowlers Mohammedan captain Naeem Islam used managed to give him a breakthrough. Shahidul, Faisal, Enamul and Naeem himself took two wickets each to stall Prime Bank’s innings.

Abahani Limited v Legends of Rupganj

Tamim Iqbal’s Abahani Limited continued to surge ahead in the Super League phase with another resounding victory today. Abahani defeated Legends of Rupganj led by Mosharraf Hossain by 60 runs at BKSP’s No.3 ground, Savar.

Rupganj found themselves in deep trouble at 3-35 inside nine overs chasing 291 for victory. 55 from Mohammad Mithun and Asif Ahmed’s 70 in 54 balls kept the contest close. Asif smashed three fours and five sixes, but his herculean effort went in vain. Mosaddek Hossain of Abahani was the wrecker-in-chief, and destroyed Rupganj with five wickets for 43 runs in 10 overs. Taskin and Shakib took two wickets each.

Earlier, Abahani Limited were put into bat by Legends of Rupganj captain Mosharraf Hossain. After a solid start, Abahani courtesy of a blistering 5th wicket partnership of 140 runs in 16.3 overs between Shakib Al Hasan and Mosaddek Hossain reached 290 for 8 in 50 overs.

After Liton’s 51, Shakib and Mosaddek took to the stage and lit it up with some blazing shots all around the park. Bangladesh’s ace allrounder made 66 from 57 with six fours and two sixes to his name. Mosaddek smashed 73 from only 55, and his whirlwind knock contained eight fours and two hige sixes.

Rupganj skipper used seven bowlers today, and only Alauddin Babu, Taijul Islam and Asif Ahmed were successful in getting breakthroughs. Taijul took three for 45 in 10 economical overs.
