8 soldiers killed in terrorist attack in Kashmir's Pulwama
Eight soldiers have been killed and over 20 injured in a terrorist attack on a Central Reserve Police Force convoy in Pampore in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district, reports NDTV.
Two terrorists were shot dead in retaliatory fire and two more are believed to be hiding in the area and a combing operation is underway to locate them.
The CRPF personnel were returning from a firing practice in Lathpora when their six-vehicle convoy was fired upon on a highway on the outskirts of Srinagar. The injured were rushed to the hospital.
Earlier reports had confirmed the death of 5 personnel while 4 others were said to have been critical.
This is the fourth attack on security forces in the state within this month. In three previous attacks, five police and Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were killed and several others injured.
Infiltration has dramatically gone up compared to the previous year. There have been infiltrations by over 50 terrorists in the last five months. Last year, there was zero infiltration in the first four months.
