Fizz given green signal
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has given Mustafizur Rahman the green signal to join Sussex next month. The BCB has already started working on gathering Mustafizur's documents in order to apply for the visa.
“The process has already begun,” said a BCB source.
According to the board, Mustafizur is likely to leave for England on either July 12 or 13. As far as the board was concerned, they always wanted Mustafizur to go and play in England. From the BCB directors to the selectors, everyone reckoned that it would be a good opportunity for the left-arm pacer to get to know the pitches in England better. With Bangladesh set to travel there for the Champions Trophy, a short stint there could be helpful for Mustafizur.
However, at the end of the day, the decision was up to the bowler himself. Upon his return from the Indian Premier League, the bowler was found to have lost a lot of weight and according to the BCB's medical team had suffered from home-sickness. It was, after all, the first time that Mustafizur had spent such a long time away from home alone.
As a result, Mustafizur was asked to go to his hometown and rest for as long as possible. A special fitness programme was also designed for him in order to help regain the lost weight. He recently started bowling in the nets and at the moment seems fine. According to Sussex, Mustafizur is likely to make his debut on July 15.
