Greece and its international creditors have agreed the substance of a new multi-billion euro bailout deal, according to a Greek finance ministry official.

"An agreement has been reached. Some minor details are being discussed right now," Reuters quoted the official as saying.

An agreement should keep the country in the eurozone and avert bankruptcy.

The comments follow talks between Greece and its lenders in Athens.

Greece has agreed the function of a new independent privatisation fund, and how non-performing bank loans will be administered, the official said.

Greek finance minster Euclid Tsakalotos said "two or three small details" were still pending in bailout negotiations.
