Bangla Bhai’s close aide held in Rajshahi
Law enforcers claimed to have detained a member of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) at Bagmara upazila of Rajshahi today.
The detainee Abdus Sattar, a teacher of Jatragachhi Madrassah, is said to be a close aide of executed JMB leader Siddiqur Rahman alias Bangla Bhai, said Abul Kalam Azad, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Bagmara Police Station.
On information, a police team conducted a drive at his village home early today and detained Sattar, locally known as Sattar Bsc, the police official told our Rajshahi correspondent.
He was sent to jail after being placed before a Rajshahi court, police said.
JMB chief Abdur Rahman, its operations commander Bangla Bhai and four other top leaders were executed in 2007 for killing two judges in Jhalakathi in a suicide bomb attack on November 14, 2005.
