BNP has given shelter to Bangabandhu killers: Nasim
Awami League presidium member Mohammad Nasim today blasted BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir for his comment that Awami League men were active behind the assassination of Bangabandhu and his family members.
“Fakhrul and his party will not get people’s mercy telling the lie as his party has given shelter and protection to the killers of Bangabandhu and it is still doing so,” Nasim, spokesman of the Awami League-led 14-party alliance, said.
Nasim brought this allegation while speaking at a press conference at the political office of Awami League President Sheikh Hasina at Dhanmondi of Dhaka, emerging from a meeting of the 14-party alliance.
In response to the ruling party allegation that Ziaur Rahman had involved in the assassination of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Fakhrul yesterday said that the then Awami League men, not Ziaur Rahman, were behind the killing.
Citing facts, Nasim said BNP founder Ziaur Rahman had upheld indemnity ordinance introduced by ‘Bangabandhu killer Mostak’ to protect the killers. Later, Ershad and Khaleda Zia did the same during their tenures, he said.
Holding BNP responsible for the assassination, Nasim said BNP has formed a political alliance with Jamaat-e-Islami and now it is shedding crocodile tears for Jamaat but no benefit will be brought.
