Mayeda fires to gold
Newcomer Mayeda Momtahina of Army Shooting Association stunned her senior counterparts in the Beximco 28th National Shooting Championship after grabbing the gold medal in the women's 10metre air rifle event at the National Shooting Complex in Gulshan yesterday.
Momtahina, who took part in the senior level for the first time, beat Islamabad SA Games gold medalist Sharmin Akter in the shoot-off after moving into the eight-person final round by finishing third in qualification. Suriya Akter won bronze.
Though the competition was inaugurated on Thursday, the competitions started yesterday with Army Shooting Association dominating the opening day by winning five gold from six events.
