Landlord remanded

A Narayanganj court yesterday placed Nuruddin Dewan, owner of the house where top militant Tamim Ahmed Chowdhury and his two cohorts were killed in a police operation, on a three-day remand yesterday.

The order came after investigators produced him before the court seeking seven days' remand for him, said police.

Nuruddin, 60, was held at his Paikpara house in the city.

Bangladeshi-Canadian Tamim, a "Neo JMB" kingpin and alleged mastermind of the Gulshan attack, was killed along with his two cohorts in the police operation codenamed "Hit Strong 27" on Saturday morning.

Police picked up 10 persons including Nuruddin from the area after the incident. Police, however, questioned and released nine of them.

Police quoted Nuruddin as saying during primary interrogation that two youths namely Murad and Rana rented the flat claiming they were employees of a pharmaceutical company.
