Children's art competition in M'Singh
Children took part in an art competition at the premises of Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Sangrahashala (art gallery) on Monday. Mymensingh district administration organised the art competition marking International Day for Disaster Reduction.
The event was assisted by different non-government organisations including World Vision Bangladesh (Mymensingh region), sources said.
Some 50 children from different educational institutions took part in the competition in three groups to draw about disasters, their risk and reduction, sources said.
Art gallery's deputy keeper of the Mukul Dutta, Md Abdur Rouf; principal (acting) of Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Art Institute; and Badal Chakraborty, art teacher of Mymensingh Shilpakala Academy were the judges of the competition.
Earlier, Md Abdul Latif, additional district commissioner (Education and ICT) inaugurated the competition as chief guest.
Among others, Mohammad Hossain, district relief and rehabilitation officer; disaster management specialist of World Vision Mymensingh region Md Abdul Barek, and deputy were present.
As natural disasters cannot be stopped and reduction is the best effort against it, so children should be aware about different kinds of disasters and its management, they added.
