5:35 pm: A tough day for Bangladesh…they had England in trouble in their second innings at 62-5 but the Stokes-Bairstow stand of 127 runs for the sixth wicket took the game away from the hosts, considering Tigers conceded a lead of 45 earlier in the day.

For England, Ben Stokes starred with the ball and bat to take side his out of trouble. He polished off the Bangladesh lower-order with sharp reverse swing, and then batted sensibly to defy the home bowlers. He made 85 while Bairstow contributed with 47.

Shakib Al Hasan was the stand-out bowler for his team today, and grabbed a five-for to peg back the visitors. Mehedi Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam and Kamrul Islam Rabbi took a wicket each.

5:10 pm: Shakib grabbed his 15th five-for in Tests when he took the eighth wicket to fall for England. After the decision was reviewed, it was overturned by the on-field umpire to the delight of the home crowd.

4:50 pm: Shakib picked up his fourth scalp of the second innings when he trapped Ben Stokes in front after the England batsman made 85 from 151 balls to lift his side out of trouble. Television replays showed the ball was pitching on middle and off and straightening…Stokes wanted to go for a review but was too late to call.

4:25 pm: Finally Tigers tasted some success, and managed to end the Stokes-Bairstow stand that took the game away from them…Kamrul Islam Rabbi got his maiden wicket when Bairstow played on after a responsible knock.

Too little too late for Tigers, and the lead has gone beyond them by now…

2:50 pm: England fought back with their sixth-wicket stand between Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow as they extended the 45-run lead with matured batting.

The pair batted over 15 overs and scored 46 runs while keeping the Bangladesh bowlers at bay. They were prepared to play the waiting game, and didn't try to do anything silly to score heavily.

With the lead swelling over 150 with five England wickets remaining, Bangladesh must end the Stokes-Bairstow partnership sooner than later for their own good.

2:10 pm: With England in deep trouble with five wickets down, Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow settled the nerves in the visitor's dressing room with sensible batting under pressure…both of them were keen to defend the good balls, but kept the scoreboard ticking with ones and twos.

As the English batters were watching the ball closely, and playing late, they didn't look out of sorts in the middle, and responded to the turn and bounce quite adeptly.

Bangladesh bowlers must not get carried away with the earlier burst of wickets…they must be patient and keep on persevering under the hot sun at Chittagong.

1:40 pm: Shakib gets the big wicket…brilliant catch behind the wickets from Mushfiqur Rahim to see the back of Moeen Ali, the chief tormentor in the first innings.

The England batsman lined up the ball outside off, but somehow managed to get an under-edge onto his pads…and then the ball lobbed off his gloves…and Mushy does the rest!

Bangladesh have England down on the mat, and they must go for the kill with half the side back in the dressing room…crucial session for the hosts.

Bangladesh need wickets at regular intervals, as batting last on the Chittagong pitch will be a handful…can't let the visitors off the hook!

12:55 pm: Bangladesh bowlers didn't let the English batters, Moeen Ali and Gary Balance any freebies to settle down after lunch, and kept up the pressure with their disciplined bowling from both ends.

Moeen survived a close call in the 16th over bowled by Shakib. He got a thick inside-edge but Mominul Haque could only complete the catch with some help from his helmet…the ball ricocheted off the visor and down into his hands…Mooen lives to fight another day.

A fluky escape! If the ball strikes protective clothing it is immediately dead.

12:10 pm: Shakib takes another…and that's lunch for day-3…what a riveting session of Test cricket…visitors losing 3 for 3 and eight wickets falling earlier…Tigers will go to the dressing room with their tails up…three quick wickets, and they are back in the contest after the morning's batting debacle.

Ben Duckett gloved the ball to his thigh pad and short leg took the simplest of catches…soft dismissal for the England opener.

Paceman Ben Stokes picked up a four-for while off-spinner Moeen Ali took three as England needed just over an hour to bundle out the hosts.

Floated from Rashid, Shafiul was looking for a mighty mow over the bowler's head, was beaten by the slight turn and ended up spooning a simple catch to Stuart Broad at mid-on…England are on a roll!

He went for the charge, missed the ball by a mile with his slog and Jonny Bairstow behind the stumps could hardly believe his luck…easy stumping, poor dismissal and a dismal show from the experienced cricketer.

Resuming on 221-5, Bangladesh were hoping Shakib, who was unbeaten on 31 overnight, would take them close to England's first innings total.
