Olama League chief stabbed in Dhaka mosque

Awami Olama League President Allama Ilias Hossain Bin Helali was stabbed at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in Dhaka this afternoon.

Police said unidentified miscreants struck him on the shoulder with sharp weapons after juma prayers.

Helali, chief of the pro-Awami League organisation, was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) as his condition deteriorated.

Police picked up a man from the spot in this connection.

Mujahid, 21, is being interrogated by Detective Branch of police, Abdul Jalil, a sub-inspector of Paltan Police Station, told The Daily Star.
