SAFF U-19: Bangladesh romp into the semis
Bangladesh romped into the semifinals of SAFF U19 Championship 2015 after defeating Bhutan quite convincingly by two goals to nil in their first match of the six-nation tournament at Lalitpur, Nepal.
Goals in the first half from Rohit Sarkar and Mannaf Rabby gave Bangladesh all three points at the ANFA Complex on Saturday.
Two rising stars in the Bangladesh Premier League, Mohammad Ibrahim and Mannaf Rabby displayed terrific skills while leading their team’s attack from the front.
Although Bangladesh took some time to settle down and play confidently, two goals within the space of two minutes gave them their deserved victory.
After the first goal in the 42nd minute by Rohit, Rabby doubled the lead only two minutes later with a controlled shot.
Ibrahim went close to scoring in the 71st minute but his effort went in vain.
The young Tigers will take on Nepal in their last match of Group A on Monday. If they win, Bangladesh will come out as group champions.
