No Boom Boom captain for Rangpur
The depression that formed over the Bay of Bengal compelled the authorities to reschedule the fourth edition of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) due to inclement weather at Dhaka. The T20 tournament will begin from November 8, Tuesday.
Rangpur Riders, the franchise that boasts the likes of Soumya Sarkar, Rubel Hossain, Shahid Afridi, Gidron Pope, Babar Azam and Mohammad Shahzad in their mix was reported to have offered the captaincy to Boom Boom Afridi, but the Pakistani allrounder expressed his gratitude to the team management and turned down the offer.
Afridi wants to enjoy the fourth edition of BPL as a player, free from the obligations of captaincy. Rangpur fans will definitely want to see some fireworks from his blade on top of his trademark pose after getting a wicket!
In BPL 3, Rangpur Riders finished third, and they lost their icon player Shakib Al Hasan who will don the jersey of Dhaka Dynamites in this year’s domestic T20 extravaganza of Bangladesh.
Raiders offered me captaincy for #BPL2016. I'm thankful for offer but I want to enjoy as a player hence have refused.
