Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) today pressed charges against two persons for gang-raping a 21-year-old indigenous woman in Dhaka on May 21.
The accused are Ashraf Khan alias Tushar and Jahidul Islam Lavlu.
Azmila Nasren Chowdhury, assistant superintendent of police (ASP) of Rab and also the investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court of Dhaka this afternoon.
The woman was forcibly bundled into the microbus by five men from Kuril Bus Stand area, where she was waiting to catch a bus for returning to her Uttara residence.
A case was filed with Bhatara Police Station, a day into the incident, where the victim mentioned that five people had "gang-raped" her.
On May 28, Rab arrested the duo, now in jail, who later confessed to the heinous crime in primary interrogation.
The alleged rapists lured her into the trap with an offer of a better job, claimed the Rapid Action Battalion.
