Sabbir heroics in vain

Despite a swashbuckling century from Sabbir Rahman, the Rajshahi Kings suffered a four-run defeat to Mushfiqur Rahim’s Barisal Bulls.

Sabbir was the only performer with the bat for his side, making a 61-ball 122. He walloped nine fours and nine sixes to take his side to 159-5 in 16 overs before his dismissal.

Earlier, Barisal rode on captain Mushfiqur Rahim’s majestic knock to post 192 for 4 against Rajshahi Kings in the 10th match of Bangladesh Premier League 2016 at Mirpur stadium today.

Rajshahi won the toss and invited Barisal to bat first. The third wicket partnership of 112 runs in 11.5 overs followed by 59 runs in four overs enabled Barisal to score the highest total of the fourth edition of BPL. Mushfiqur was unbeaten on 81 from 52 balls. His whirlwind knock contained five fours and four sixes. He was ably supported by Shahriar Nafees who made 63 from 44.

Most of the Rajshahi bowlers were sent on a leather hunt by the Barisal batters today. Farhad Reza was the most impressive among his teammates, and he took two wickets for 22 runs in four overs.
