Tagore in Sufiana (video: part-I)
Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre organised ‘Tagore in Sufiana’, a fusion based musical programme on Tagore's poetry and Sufi music accompanied with the classical tune of sitar and tabla.
This production is a unique blend of Tagore's poetry and songs with pieces by legendary Sufis like Bulleh Shah, Aamir Khasru and Hazrat Khwaja Nizamuddin Auliya.
This fusion is conceptualised by Suvadeep Chakraborty and his group 'Shrutibritto' from Kolkata. One of its kind, the fusion performance surprised the audience of Dhaka with soulfulness and depth. It stayed true to each genre of music yet conjured the perfect concoction of both forms of music.
Shrutibritto includes Sambuddha Chatterjee is the vocalist, with Nabarun Kumar Dutta playing the tabla and Deepshankar Bhattacharya on the sitar.
For your own pleasure we will post three of the best songs tomorrow.
Stay tuned!
