It was a big opportunity lost for BD

Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza expressed his disappointment after his team lost the second ODI by 67 runs and the series 2-0 at Saxton Oval, Nelson today

“Most of the teams in the world look for such opportunity when they come to play here. We bowled well to restrict them for 250. We were in a good position to win the game with 100-1. But the run out changed everything. It was a big opportunity lost for us", said Mashrafe at the post-match briefing.

“This was a better wicket for batting. Sabbir and Imrul were batting well. When they were batting we were on top. It is again very disappointing that we have lost from that position", said the Bangladesh captain who bowled beautifully in the game and finished with three wickets.

Chasing 252 on a placid track, Bangladesh looked like they were cruising with Sabbir Rahman and Imrul Kayes at the crease. After Sabbir was run out in the 23rd over in a comical manner with the score at 2-105, Bangladesh batsmen pressed the panic button and got out one after another. Bangladesh lost their last eight wickets for 79 runs to be all out for 184 in 42.4 overs.

Teams:

New Zealand: KS Williamson*, TA Boult, NT Broom, C de Grandhomme, LH Ferguson, MJ Guptill, MJ Henry, TWM Latham, C Munro, JDS Neesham, L Ronchi†, MJ Santner and TG Southee

Bangladesh: Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Mahmudullah Riyad, Shakib Al Hasan, Sabbir Rahman, Nurul Hasan, Mosaddek Hossain, Tanbir Hayder, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza*, Subhashis Roy and Taskin Ahmed
