A Dhaka court today placed two members of banned Islamist outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team on a five-day remand each in connection with the blogger Niladri Chattopadhyay Niloy murder case.

Court of metropolitan magistrate Md Imdadul Haque passed the order after Inspector Mahbubur Rahman of Detective Branch of police and also investigation officer of the case produced them before it, seeking a 10-day remand for each.

No lawyer stood to defend them, the police official said.

"They are active members of the militant outfits and evidence revealed their involvement with the murder incident," he added.

Detectives arrested the two -- Kausar Hossain Khan, 29, and Kamal Hossain Sardar, 29 – in the capital yesterday.

Earlier on August 14, detectives arrested Saad al Nahiyan and Masud Rana, alleged members of Ansarullah Bangla Team, for their suspected involvement in the murder.

On August 7, unidentified assailants hacked to death blogger Niloy inside his house in the capital in broad daylight.

Niloy, 28, who also was a Gonojagoron Mancha activist, is the fourth blogger to have been killed this year by suspected Islamist militants.

Kausar, Kamal and Nahiyan were arrested earlier as they were charge-sheeted accused in an attempted murder case filed in connection with an attack on blogger Asif Mohiuddin two years ago, police said.
