2 Ananta murder suspects on 7-day remand
A Sylhet court this evening placed two people on a seven-day remand in connection with the killing of blogger Ananta Bijoy Das.
The metropolitan magistrate’s court passed the order after the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which is carrying out the probe into the murder, produced the suspects before it.
The law enforcers in Sylhet earlier this morning picked up Mannan Yahya and Mohaimen Noman, residents of Kanaighat upazila in Sylhet district, reports our Moulvibazar correspondent.
The details about the arrests were not available immediately.
The law enforcers will hold a press conference later in the night on the arrests, Rahmatullah, additional deputy commissioner (media) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police, told the Daily Star.
A blogger and organiser of local Gonojagoron Mancha, Ananta Bijoy Das was hacked to death on broad daylight at Subid Bazar area in Sylhet on May 12.
A case was filed in this regard on May 13 by his brother.
Later on May 26 the case was handed over by the Sylhet Metropolitan Police to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
