Bangladesh in semis
Bangladesh men's team moved into the semifinals of the Roll Ball World Cup for the first time after beating Nepal by 6-3 goals in the quarterfinals yesterday. The Bangladesh team, who had finished seventh in their only previous participation in this event two years ago, dominated Nepal in their second game of the day, taking a 4-0 lead in the first half at the Shaheed Suhrawardi indoor Stadium in Mirpur. The men in red and green scored two more after the break while conceding thrice, but it was in the end a comfortable victory.
Earlier, Bangladesh thrashed Chinese Taipei 12-1 in the pre-quarterfinal in the morning, with Deen Islam Hridoy top-scoring with five goals.
Bangladesh will take on Iran while defending champions India will take on Kenya in the men's semifinals today. In the women's semifinals, defending champions Kenya will take on Iran while India will play against Senegal. Both the finals will also take place today.
Bangladesh women's team were eliminated from the event on the previous day after losing against Senegal in the pre-quarterfinal.
