Govt to reward for illegal VoIP information
The government will reward if anyone provides information to it on the illegal trade of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP).
State Minister for Telecom Tarana Halim made the announcement after emerging from a meeting held at her ministry office in Dhaka this afternoon.
“Rewards up to Tk 100,000 will be given on information after its verification through proper investigations,” she said.
According to the Telecommunication Regulatory Act 2001, illegal international call operation is a punishable offence, said a circular floated for media this afternoon.
The government will award those who will provide information on the offenders keeping identities of the informers a secret, reads the circular.
The circular said informers can provide their information to the secretary of the ministry and chairman of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission directly.
The government has been carrying out non-stop drive in a bid to stop such illegal trading.
