Being a cricket crazy nation we are swayed by the performances of our Tigers. The day they play well and are all happy, we too feel very happy and throw parties here and there. On the other hand, if they end up crying on the field, the nation starts mourning with a collective cry.

However, we often see cricketers facing unfair treatment when they somehow do not perform well enough to impress the spectators. The situation is even worse especially in Bangladesh where the moment the team and the players start letting us down, we start to utter words of anger, frustration and even hatred towards them on social media.

And being one of the most celebrated and most senior players of the team, also being the top all-rounder in all formats of cricket, Shakib often has to face it.

Most recently we have seen a hoard of people bashing Shakib with allegations like he has lost his form, his days are over, only when it is the time of IPL he plays well or that he just plays for himself and not for the whole team, etc.

This kind of treatment of a player is totally unfair and to an extent even inhuman. We all must understand that no one can perform with same intensity all the time. There will be both bad times and good times. We have to stay patient and wait for the time like we had the other day when we seized a historic win against the Lankans on the occasion of our 100th match in Test Cricket
