Bangladesh to exceed 7.2pc GDP growth in FY17: Muhith
Expressing the hope of exceeding the targeted 7.2 percent GDP growth in the current 2016-17 fiscal, Finance Minister AMA Muhith today said Bangladesh is developing consistently in the region.
"Indian performance is very good. But the country has ups and downs. We are not like India," he told journalists at a cheque-receiving ceremony at the Finance Ministry.
In 2016, he said, political situation of the country was stable and the country is enjoying the result of peaceful situation. So all economic indicators are moving forward, he added.
"Our policy is very simple- that is poverty alleviation and it will be continued. If we can alleviate poverty, it will increase want. In this way we will raise GDP growth which will continue for at least 10 more years," he added.
Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority Bangladesh (IDRAB) and Investment Corporation of Bangladesh (ICB) handed over their profit cheques during the ceremony.
