1.50 lakh yaba seized, ‘smuggler’ held in Ctg

Rapid Action Battalion today claimed to have detained a smuggler with 1.50 lakh yaba tablets from a house in Anwara upazila of Chittagong.  

The detainee Amir Hossain, 35, was held from a house at Ullahpara around 10:00pm, reports our Chittagong correspondent.

Rab-7 members acting on a tip-off raided Amir's father-in-law's house last night and seized 30 thousand yaba tablets, said Mezbah Uddin Ahmed, commanding officer of Rab-7.

Later, with information from Amir, 1 lakh 20 thousand pieces of yaba tablets were found from the house and seized, he said. The estimated price of the yaba tablets is worth Tk 6 crore.

Amir is the maternal uncle of Jafar, who was also an alleged yaba smuggler of the area - killed in a "gunfight" with law enforcers on July 26.
