Advocate, clerk held for forging drug peddlers’ bail order

Detectives today detained an advocate and a muhuri (lawyer’s clerk) in connection with forgery and for using fake seals, signatures to secure bail for two drug peddlers from High Court divisions.

Adv M A Samad and his clerk Md Bani Amin were held from Chankharpul area under Bangshal Police Station yesterday morning, Abdul Baten, joint commissioner of Detective Branch of police, said at a press briefing at DMP Media Centre on Minto Road of the capital.

On primary interrogation, the duo admitted their involvement with forging legal papers for securing bail to notorious criminals, the DB official said.

A total of 81 fake seals of deputy jailers of different prisons and documents of 13 cases were seized from their possession, he added.
