Finch out of IPL match due to missing kit bag
Australian player Aaron Finch was left out of the Gujrat Lions match day squad in their game against Mumbai Indians because of the unavailability of his kit bag, Cricket Australia reports.
Captain Suresh Raina confirmed that the kit bag belonging to Finch did not arrive on time at the Wankhede stadium and was still in Rajkot.
"Unfortunately Finchy misses out today because he's lost his kit bag," Raina was quoted as saying by Cricket Australia. "His kit bag did not arrive on time."
Teammate Brendon McCullum has said that Finch was not at fault for the kit bag getting left at Rajkot.
"He didn't forget his gear, that's for sure, but his gear didn't make it from Rajkot," McCullum said.
"Finchy was pretty disappointed about that ... I'm pretty sure that won't happen again. Finchy's gear will be the first one on the bus."
Unconfirmed reports suggest that Flinch was unable to borrow from his teammates due to sponsor commitments.
The Victorian started the tournament with meager scores of 15 and 3 but showed his form with an unbeaten knock of 33 against Pune Supergiant on Friday.
Finch was replaced by English batsman Jason Roy in the lineup. Gujarat Lions posted a total of 176/4 after Mumbai Indians opted to bowl first having won the toss.
