MP Rana's bail stayed for 3 days

Chamber judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court Justice Hasan Foez Siddique yesterday stayed for three days a High Court order that granted bail to Tangail's Awami League lawmaker Amanur Rahman Khan Rana in freedom fighter Faruk Ahmed murder case, blocking the way of his walk out of jail.

He gave the order following a government petition seeking a stay on the HC order.

The apex court chamber judge also fixed April 18 for further hearing on the petition, as no lawyer for Rana was present during its hearing yesterday, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam told The Daily Star.

He also said MP Rana cannot get released from jail until further order of the SC. On April 13, the HC granted ad-interim bail to Rana.
