Ctg woman gives birth to triplets
A 30-year old woman gave birth to triplets at a private clinic in Chittagong city today.
The triplets, all girls, are healthy and able to breathe normally, Dr Rahela Banu, who performed a caesarean section at South Point Hospital at Agrabad in the port city, told The Daily Star.
The three new born, weighing 1.5 to 2.2 kilogrammes, were born around 10:30am and were kept under supervision of a child specialist, said the doctor, a gynecologist and obstetrician at Popular Medical Center at Dewanhat.
The mother Selina Begum, wife of Jainal Abedin, residing at Shantibagh of Double Mooring, was also in good health, she said.
Selina, who already has a 3-year-old girl, said she is very happy as she was blessed with the three baby girls at a time.
Her aunt Sakhina Begum, who was holding one of the baby girls just after the birth of the newborns, said they named the triplets – Hira, Moni and Mukta.
Taking test-tube babies or implementing other scientific process, a mother can give birth to more babies at a time but it was a natural birth, said Dr Rahela adding that such kind of birth happens once in around 200 cases.
