Businessman shot dead in Chuadanga

A businessman was shot dead by unknown miscreants in Alamdanga upazila of Chuadanga early today.

Deceased Ziaur Rahman, 39, of Narayankandi village in the upzaila, was the president of Narayankandi Kayatpara Motshazibi Shomobay Shomity.

The incident took place at the village around 3:30am, reports our Kustia correspondent quoting acting Superintendent of Chuadanga Police Belayet Hossain.

Ziaur had conflict with a number of groups over the lease of a water body in the area, police said quoting victim’s wife Firoza Akhter.

“My husband went to visit the water body last night. The miscreants shot him dead when he was returning home amid storm and rain,” the wife said.

The body was sent to Upazila Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, police said.
