MP Liton killing: Charges pressed against Kader, 7 others
Police today pressed charges against former Gaibandha-1 lawmaker Col (retd) Abdul Kader Khan and seven others in the murder of ruling AL lawmaker of the constituency Manzurul Islam Liton.
Investigation Officer (IO) Abu Haider Md Ashrafuzzaman filed the charges to Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Moinul Hasan Yusuf, our local correspondent reports.
The seven others accused are: Mehedi Hasan, Shahin Mia, Anwarul Islam alias Rana, Abdul Hannan, Kader’s chief aide Chandan Kumar Sarker, his personal secretary Samshuzzoha and butcher Subal.
The charge sheet against eight accused including Kader Khan was submitted to the court around 5:00pm, said Atiar Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sundarganj Police Station.
Gaibandha lawmaker Liton was shot dead by unknown assailants inside his home in Sundarganj upazila of Gaibandha on December 31 last year.
Liton’s sister Tahmida Akhter Kakoli filed the case with Sundarganj Police Station against four to five unknown people.
Khader Khan was arrested from his residence-cum-clinic in Rahmannagar area of Bogra town on February 21.
Later on the next day, police took him on a 10-day remand through court.
Abdul Kader Khan on February 25 gave confessional statement under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure in MP Liton murder case.
Mehedi Hasna, Shahin Mia and Anwarul Islam Rana also gave confessional statement before court.
