No gap between judiciary and govt: Law minister

Law Minister Anisul Huq today said there is "no distance between the judiciary and the government".

“I feel that the honourable chief justice resolved this issue yesterday. He [chief justice] said very clearly that there is no distance between the judiciary and the government,” he said.

The minister said this while replying to queries from reporters after attending as chief guest at the 22th annual conference of Bangladesh Lions Clubs at Hotel Sonargaon in Dhaka.

Lion Kalpona Raziuddin presided over the occasion where Lions AKM Rezaul Haque, Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed and Sheikh Kabir Hossain, among others, were present.

Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha on Wednesday reportedly told a function in Joypurhat that there is no conflict between the judiciary and the government.

Both the government and judiciary want to establish rule of law in the country, but the real picture is not placed before the head of the government, the chief justice said.

Earlier on April 15, Justice SK Sinha told a function in Dhaka that “A quarter is always engaged in an evil design to create a distance between the government and the judiciary. Such a misunderstanding sends a wrong message to the people”.

He also said the government took three very important decisions regarding the judiciary a few days ago, but the chief justice, as the guardian of the judiciary, was not kept in the loop.

“The decisions have been realised from the head of the government through presenting completely wrong information and hiding facts,” the chief justice said.
