Khaleda pleas for shifting Zia Charitable Trust case to another court
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia today filed a petition with the High Court for transferring the Zia Charitable Trust corruption case against her from the Special Judge’s Court-3 of Dhaka to another court.
In the petition, Khaleda said the HC has earlier transferred Zia Orphanage Trust case against her from the Special Judge Court-3 led by Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar to another court.
So, the Zia Charitable Trust corruption case against her should also be transferred from his court, Advocate Zakir Hossain Bhuiyan, a lawyer for Khaleda, told The Daily Star citing from the petition.
He said the HC may hold a hearing on the petition within a day or two.
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) lawyer Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan told this correspondent that they will contest the petition of Khaleda Zia during its hearing before the HC.
On August 8, 2011, the ACC filed the Zia Orphanage Trust case with Tejgaon Police Station, accusing four people, including Khaleda, of raising funds for the trust from unknown sources through abuse of power.
Meanwhile yesterday, the Senior Special Judge’s Court led by Judge Kamrul Hossain Mollah fixed May 23 for placing Khaleda Zia’s self-defence statement in connection with Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case against her.
